BANGALORE: St. Joseph’s College of Commerce entered the final of the Rahul Sebastian memorial inter-collegiate basketball tournament beating M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology 58-48 in the semifinals at the Malleswaram courts here on Friday. A splendid display by Varun, who scored 32 points, including two 3-pointers, marked SJCC’s victory. The results: Semifinals: SJCC 58 (Varun 32) beat MSRIT 48 (Pranav 17). Quarterfinals: SJCC bt Dayanand Sagar College 40-35; RNSIT bt RVCE 36-30; MSRIT bt SJI PUC 38-21; SBMJ PU College bt Christ College 47-43. Madras varsity winsMadras University won the South Zone inter-university kabaddi championship in Shimoga on Thursday evening. It won the championship on the basis of points despite losing its final match to Annamalai University. Calicut University was third place and Periyar University fourth. Matches washed outMatches in the Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa memorial hockey tournament were washed out following heavy rains here this afternoon. The day’s schedule featured RBI vs ITI Sports Club and PCTC vs Karnataka State Police. Both the ties will be played at a later date, according to Karnataka State Hockey Association.
