Chennai: Third seed Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu stunned top seed Andrew Wagih Shoukry to reach the final of the PSA Challenger event at the Indian Squash Academy here on Friday. The much-improved Sandhu needed just three games and 29 minutes to finish off his fancied Egyptian opponent, setting up a final clash against James Snell of England. Ranked 102 in the world, Sandhu ran up leads of 9-3 and 7-6 in the first two games, and then overcame a 7-10 deficit in the final game to clinch it 12-10. Second seed Snell had an equally breezy, 29-minute semifinal against Ahmed Hawas of Egypt, winning in straight games. Meanwhile, in the WISPA Challenger, Malaysian Siti Munirah Jusoh and Englishwoman Fiona Moverley — the top two seeds — entered the final, winning their respective semifinals against Australian Zoe Petrovansky and Brit girl Lauren Selby. The finals are scheduled for Saturday. The results: Semifinals: PSA: Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu bt Andrew Wagih Shoukry (Egy) 11-5, 11-8, 12-10; James Snell (Eng) bt Ahmed Hawas (Egy) 11-3, 11-6, 11-7.
