HYDERABAD: A Telugu Desam delegation led by Polit Bureau member, Kadiam Srihari, met Chief Minister K. Rosaiah and appealed to him to order immediate release of water from Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) for the second crop in North Telangana districts. The delegation comprising MLAs from Warangal and Karimnagar districts, L. Ramana, E. Dayakar Rao and former MLA, V. Narender Reddy, highlighted the plight of the farmers in these two districts, besides Adilabad and Nizamabad to the Chief Minister. Mr. Srihari said a majority of the mandals in these four districts have been declared drought-affected after kharif season recorded low rainfall. Having lost heavily, farmers thought of recovering part of it in rabi, but with deficient rainfall in this season too, they were keeping their fingers crossed. Adding to their misery, the water level has gone down significantly in wells and borewells. The delegation wanted the Chief Minister to convene a meeting of Irrigation, Agriculture and Revenue department officials.
