Airtel cuts roaming tariff

HYDERABAD: Bharti Airtel, the telecom services major on Friday announced a cut in roaming tariff up to 60 per cent for its pre-paid and post-paid customers with an enrolment fee of Rs. 98.

Along with the enrolment fee, pre-paid subscribers will get a one-year validity, said Sharlin Thayil, CEO, Mobile Services, AP Circle.

Dubbed the Airtel Turbo Plan, the tariff while roaming is 60 paise per minute for all incoming calls and for local and STD Airtel to Airtel mobiles, while local and STD Airtel to other mobiles and landlines will be charged at 80 paise per minute.

Earlier, roaming tariffs were Re. 1 for incoming and Rs. 1.50 for outgoing.

On home networks local and STD Airtel to Airtel mobiles will cost 50 paise a minute while to mobiles and landlines of other networks local and STD calls will attract a tariff of 60 paise.
