Centenary

BANGALORE: The Kannada Study Centre of Bangalore University observed the Jnanpith award winner Kannada poet V.K. Gokak’s birth centenary here on Friday.

Retired professor of English and Kannada writer L.S. Seshagiri Rao said that Prof. Gokak was a source of inspiration not only for teachers and students but also to writers.

As director of a weeklong literary workshop organised by the Karnataka Sahitya Academy in the 1980s, Prof. Gokak accommodating 30 serious papers on various aspects of Kannada literature would vouchsafe his literary penchant and organising abilities, Prof. Rao said.
