‘CBI probe not necessary’

Special Correspondent

THINTHANI: Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Friday gave broad indications that the State Government may not seek a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the Karnataka operations of the Obulapuram Mining Company, owned by Tourism Minister G. Janardhan Reddy.

Reacting to the statement of Union Labour Minister M. Mallikarjun Kharge that the operations of the OMC in Karnataka would also come under the ambit of the CBI inquiry requested by the Andhra Pradesh Government, the Chief Minister was ambiguous in his statement. To a question on whether the State Government would seek a CBI probe Mr. Yeddyurappa said it was “not necessary”.
