KATTAPPANA: Under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana, a total of Rs.176.72 lakh will be provided in the district next year and the thrust will be on bringing barren paddy fields under cultivation. Principal Agriculture Officer K.K. Chandran said that this was for the third year that the scheme was implemented in the district with focus on paddy fields in the Chakkupallam, Kattappana and Vandanmedu grama panchayats. As per the scheme, Rs.10,000 will be given to the farmers to start paddy cultivation. A total of Rs.12 lakh will be made available to the farmers in 120 hectares of land in the area, he said.
