Squads formed to check ‘faulty’ weighbridges in sugar factories

Belgaum: With a view to check malpractices, if any, in sugar factories, the Controller of Legal Metrology (Weights and Measures) Standards, R. Ramappa, has ordered assistant controllers and inspectors in the department to inspect weighbridges in all factories in Belgaum division till the end of January 2010.

The assistant controllers and inspectors should also take specific complaints against any sugar factory in their jurisdiction seriously and take action.

Accordingly, there will be three squads that will take up inspections in the areas falling under their jurisdiction.

Squad No 1 will consist of Assistant Controller of Hubli P.C. Arjunagi (Ph: 9035530567, 0836-2354613); Inspector of Hubli Mobile Squad A.M. Pattanshetty (Ph: 9945348131), Dharwad, S.M. Buranpur (Ph: 9448310238), and Savadatti, G.B. Doddamani (Ph: 9880758954). Mr. Doddamani will inspect sugar factories in Savadatti, Khanpur, Bailhongal and Ramdurg taluks of Belgaum district.

Squad No 2 consists of Assistant Controller of Bagalkot A.M. Hiremath (Ph: 9663484371, 08354-235227), Inspectors for Belgaum 1 R.I. Bisuguppi (Ph: 9448625561) and Belgaum 2 S.S. Uppar (Ph: 9448875111). The Inspector of Chikkodi, R. Narasannavar (Ph: 9449768393) will cover Gokak, Hukkeri and Chikkodi taluks in Belgaum district.

Squad No 3 will consist of Assistant Controller of Bijapur Sadashiv R. Mali (Ph: 9880970551, 08352-250529), Inspectors for Bijapur 1 and Bijapur 2 D.B. Chavan (Ph: 9449724040) and D.R. Chougala (Ph: 9448526495). Both Mr. Chavan and Mr. Chougala will inspect sugar factories in Raibag and Athani taluks in Belgaum district, according to a release here on Friday.
