MANGALORE: The Students’ Federation of India (SFI), Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike have condemned the alleged vigilante attack on six students of Government PU College at Vamanjoor on Sunday. They have alleged that Bajrang Dal activists were responsible for the incident and urged the Government to initiate action against the culprits. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Jeevan Raj Kuthar, district secretary of the SFI, claimed that those behind this attack were involved in similar acts in the past. Police blamedMangalore city committee of the DYFI, in a press release, blamed the police for “failing” to control the anti-social elements behind such assaults on students. K.L. Ashok, State secretary of the vedike, told presspersons that moral policing had been on the rise ever since the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power in the State. He said that a delegation of the vedike met Gopal B. Hosur, Inspector-General of Police (Western Range), and apprised him of the concerns of students.
