MROs told to complete ration cards survey

Call for steps to expedite process

Kakinada: Joint Collector K. Sasidhar has ordered the mandal revenue officers to complete the second phase of the integrated survey of ration cards, pensions and housing by November 20. He called for steps to expedite the process in Kakinada and Rajahmundry divisions where the work was not going on at the desired pace. More than 90 percent of the survey was completed in Rampachodavaram and Peddapuram divisions, he said at a meeting of MROs.

The revenue division officers have to bear the responsibility of monitoring the survey which is essential for foolproof implementation of various welfare schemes.

Mr. Sasidhar said the officials concerned have to organise grama sabhas for publication of the final list of beneficiaries enumerated in the first phase of the survey.

Electronic weighing machines were being installed in the fair price shops and it was up to the officials of Civil Supplies and Legal Metrology Departments to see that they were in good condition and operated properly. Dealerships would be cancelled if dealers resorted to irregularities, he warned.

The fair price shop dealers have to furnish information about the stocks received by them every month and the quantities sold to the ration card holders.
