KOLKATA: The script on the second day of the 16th Asian archery championship went on expected lines as the Indian men’s recurve team, comprising Rahul Banerjee, Jayanta Talukdar and Mangal Singh Champia, amassed 3,953 points and occupied the second spot overall in the FITA round qualification at Bali (Indonesia) on Wednesday. The women’s compound team, comprising Jhano Hansdah, Namita Yadav and Manjudha Soy, put up an excellent show to finish third overall with a total of 4,034 points. This was the best show by the compound women in a continental competition. Banerjee came up with a splendid display in individual events also, finishing third overall with 1326 points. The results: Ranking round: Men: Recurve: Rahul Banerjee 1326 (3rd rank), Jayanta Talukdar 1321 (5th), Mangal Singh Champia 1306 (11th) and Atanu Das 1274 (24th). Team: Rahul, Jayanta and Mangal 3953 (2nd). Women: Compound: Jhano Hansdah 1361 (7th), Gagandeep Kaur 1358 (11th), Namita Yadav 1337 (14th) and Manjudha Soy 1336 (15th).
