Enjoyable session in aerobics

Staff Reporter

Anna Oosterwelder and Wendy from Holland at a aerobics session at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Guntur on Wednesday.

GUNTUR: The experience was exhilarating. The feel of the shoes tapping on the floor to the beat of the music was electric and, for some, the auditorium on the premises of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan was converted into a dance floor. Girls and boys in their uniform put on their dancing shoes and swayed to the beat of the foot-tapping music.

It was a fun-filled session on Wednesday morning as Holland-based physiotherapist Anna Oosterwelder and Wendy demonstrated some of the aerobic exercises to inculcate a culture of fitness among students.

Anna had been a physiotherapist serving in various hospitals in Guntur and Narsaraopet 15 years ago and she was here on a holiday along with her friend Wendy. Serving the poor in the district was a memorable experience for Anna, who wanted to share her happiness with the children.

After a quick warm session, the music was on and Anna showed suppleness and grace in her quick moments and soon some students too were practicing the movements. After some initial reluctance, the rest joined and the hall reverberated with joyful shrieks.

The students swayed to the left and to the right, their hands and feet in perfect balance and the aerobics came to an end.

Principal of the school P. Ratna Geetha, earlier, welcome the guests and took them around the school premises.

She told the guests that the school was started in the year 1969 to impart holistic education, inculcating Indian values. Vijaya Educational Trust secretary Shanta Murthy was also present.
