State gets time to produce report on lands
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: The Madras High Court on Monday granted time till Tuesday for the State government to produce a report stating whether the lands in Kaverirajapuram in Tiruvallur district, mentioned in writ petitions by claimants, have been covered in the District Collector’s report to the Supreme Court Collegium.
On Friday, when the petitions filed by Human Rights Advocacy and Research foundation and People’s Watch seeking to implead themselves in the writ petitions came up, Justice K. Suguna had directed the government side to produce the report.
When the matter came up on Monday, the government advocate sought time till Tuesday. Elephant G. Rajendran, counsel appearing for one of the writ petitioners, asked how those who wanted to implead themselves had got a copy of the Collector’s report. If they had obtained it from the Collector, there was a nexus between them and the official.
