HYDERABAD: Chairperson of the Children’s Film Society of India (CFSI) Nandita Das on Monday promised to have an internal audit conducted with regard to the dozens of children’s movies lying with CFSI, pending release. She put the total figure of such movies at over 250. “The first thing I will do after the festival is to conduct an internal audit of the movies lying with us. It has only been three months since I took over, and immediately I had to dive deep into organising the film festival. After all, children’s films are not an easy market. We have to figure out the channels through which to release them,” she said, speaking to the media on her first visit to the venue in two days. Asked about the rationale behind accepting a movie such as ‘Pachchabottu’, which, on Monday, embarrassed even the CEO Sushovan Banerjee, Ms. Das said she would look into the matter. Though there are glitches, this is not the time for blame-game, she said. When a delegate pointed out that the movie was not fit for viewing by children, Mr. Banerjee put the blame on “local officials who pushed for it in the last moment.” In explanation to the fewer number of films this time round, Ms. Das said the movies were chosen with particular emphasis on quality. “No child can watch all the 70 movies, so why bother about the numbers? Let the children watch good movies,” she said. Getting back at Dasari Narayana Rao, who recommended that the synopsis be accepted before seeking the scripts, Ms. Das said a change towards this end was made eight months ago.
