68% coverage in anti-filariasis drive

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As many as 20,78,665 persons in the district were administered Di-ethyl carbamazine citrate (DEC) and albendazole tablets as part of the mass drug administration (MDA) against filariasis on November 11, 12 and 13, achieving 68 per cent coverage, district medical officer N. Sreedhar said in a statement here on Monday. The drive was aimed at covering 30 lakh persons. The statement said only a few people had reported side-effects after taking the tablets and there was no cause for apprehension.
