Theft at Vivekananda’s home

Ananya Dutta

KOLKATA: With two thefts occurring in just over three weeks at the ancestral home of Swami Vivekananda in the north of the city, detectives of the Kolkata Police are beginning to suspect that an insider may be involved, officials of the city police said here on Sunday after another heist was reported in the morning.

“This is the second such incident at Swami Vivekananda’s,” Commissioner of Police Gautam Mohan Chakraborty told The Hindu.

However, a monk of the Ramakrishna Mission said one of the many devotees who were on the premises last evening might have committed the crime. A decorative brass trident screwed onto a wooden railing in one of the rooms of the heritage building was reported missing by the authorities of the Ramakrishna Mission on Sunday morning.
