Mild tension in Abids

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Mild tension prevailed in Abids on Sunday when an independent candidate, Mohan, claimed that he caught someone distributing money to voters on behalf of a Congress leader.

Mohan told police that he caught one Sai Kumar of Karmanghat while distributing money to a group of 10 persons near a hotel at Abids and confined him in a room before calling the police.

Mohan alleged that BC Welfare Minister M. Mukesh Goud’s brother Madhu Goud was wooing voters by distributing money to them through Kumar.

But police said the group was part of over 200 volunteers attending a seminar of at a private hospital in Nampally. They say the hospital management gave Kumar money for the volunteers’ food expenses. However, based on a complaint lodged by Mohan, the police have booked a case and investigations are on.
