Mysore: Unidentified persons made away with Rs. 16 lakh in cash from the administrative office of the Mysore Race Club (MRC) here. The steel safe locker was cut open and currency bundles in denomination of Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 500 were allegedly stolen from it. The theft came to light when the workers arrived at the club around 8 a.m. on Sunday. The police said that the group had gained entry into the administrative office through a window. The corner of the locker was cut open using blades and the currency bundles were pulled out, they said. Currency notes of smaller denominations were left behind on the office table. The police found a broken axel blade and a bent screwdriver at the spot. The Nazarabad police have registered a case. In the second incident, gold ornaments valued at Rs. 1.25 lakh was stolen from Sheshadri’s house on Moksha Marga in Siddhartha Layout under the Nazarabad Police Station limits here. The police said that the thieves had gained entry into the house using the house key that was kept on the window. In the third incident in the same locality, gold ornaments valued at Rs. 1 lakh were stolen from a house belonging to Geetha.
