One killed in Lalgarh area

KOLKATA: One person was killed in the Belpahari thana area near Lalgarh in West Bengal’s Paschim Medinipur district on Sunday evening on a day when activists of the Maoist-backed Police Santrash Birodhi Janasadharaner Committee (PSBJC) laid siege to a police camp.

“Shashti Charan Dutta was killed at Bashpahari. Police teams are on their way to the spot after which we will be able to know more about the circumstances of the murder,” Manoj Verma, Superintendent of Police told The Hindu on the phone.

According to reports, Maoists were suspected to have been behind the killing.
