Bopanna and Qureshi in final

NEW DELHI: Indian Davis Cupper Rohan Bopanna is in line for his second ATP Challenger doubles title this season after making the final of the Aachen event in Germany along with his Pakistani partner Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi.

The second-seeded Indo-Pak pair scored an easy 6-3, 6-4 win over the unseeded combination of Lovro Zovko of Croatia and Yves Allegro of Switzerland in the semifinals of the €42,500 event.

Meanwhile, India’s title hopes at the ATP Challenger event in Knoxville, United States, went up in smoke after Somdev Devvarman and Purav Raja and Harsh Mankad and his Filipino partner Treat Conrad Huey lost their doubles semifinals.

Somdev and Purav went down 2-6, 3-6 to the South African pair of Raven Klaasen and Izak van der Merwe.

The second-seeded Harsh and Huey lost 3-6, 6-7(3) to Germany’s Martin Emmrich and Andreas Siljestrom of Sweden. — PTI
