BANGALORE: The face of a Bharatiya Janata Party activist was disfigured after a woman, threw chemical on him on Saturday. The Sanjaynagar Police said Jayappareddy (56), a supporter of Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu, was attacked by his relative Gowramma (55) who owned a site near Hebbal flyover, which was acquired by the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike. Gowramma suspected Mr. Jayappareddy’s hand in the acquisition and allegedly hurled the chemical at him. Gowramma has been arrested. SuspendedA police inspector has been suspended for allegedly delaying filing a charge sheet, enabling eight persons accused of murder to get bail. M. Shivashankar Murthy had investigated a murder reported on April 5, 2009, when he was police inspector in the Banashankari Station. A report said he submitted the charge sheet on July 10 when rules require submission within 90 days (July 8). The delay helped the eight get bail. StolenMiscreants allegedly stole a diamond ring and other valuables worth over Rs. 6 lakh by breaking the widow of a car parked on Lavelle Road on Saturday. According to the police, the car belonged to Ratnakar. S. The police said the miscreants had tried unsuccessfully to steal valuables from two other cars parked nearby.
