Scholarships given to merit students

VIJAYAWADA: The Lanco Foundation and the Rajagopal Foundation jointly handed over scholarships to the tune of Rs. 20 lakh to meritorious students on the occasion of Children’s Day on Saturday.

As many as 256 students benefited from the gesture of the two foundations. While 170 students were given a scholarship of Rs. 5,000 each, the tuition fee of remaining students studying in Chaitanya and Narayana colleges were paid to the extent of 50 per cent. Lanco Foundation CEO R.S. Sarath, in his welcome address, explained the objectives, aims and achievements of the Foundation.

Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal, Vijayawada Central MLA Malladi Vishnu, MLC Ilapuram Venkaiah, Mayor M.V. Ratna Bindu, Deputy Mayor S.P. Gritton and others were present.
