CHENNAI: Greaves Cotton, 150-year-old multi-product, multi-locational company, plans to produce engines of multi-utility applications. It has introduced new generation, silent eco-friendly G series gensets which find wide applications in hotels, hospitals, retail outlets, commercial complexes and small and medium industries. These engines were being produced at the company’s Pune plant, Darshin Desai, Regional Manager, Southern Region, said. The company plans to tap original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of different application products and design engines according to their requirements. The company has tied up with Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited (PVPL), the Piaggio Group’s Indian subsidiary, for the supply of mono-cylinder diesel engines for application on the three-wheeled vehicles manufactured by PVPL. Under the terms of the 8-year agreement, Greaves will continue to supply to PVPL the GL400 BSII mono-cylinder diesel engine currently used on the Ape vehicles from April next year. Besides Pune, the company has units in Gummudipoondi and Ranipet in Tamil Nadu and Aurunagabad. The Gummudipoondi unit is mainly concentrating on making engines for agricultural equipment. The company produces diesel gensets in the range of five to 500 kVA. Road showThe company is organising a road show in Chennai from November 12 for the .The roadshow will cover prominent industrial and commercial areas in and around Chennai. It will showcase the G series gensets.
