MYSORE: Four children from Mysore will participate in the seven-day National Children’s Assembly and Integration Camp in New Delhi from Saturday. The camp is organised by the National Bal Bhavan on the occasion of Children’s Day. Principal organiser of Jawahar Bal Bhavan Krishnamurthy, who has accompanied the children to Delhi, told The Hindu over phone that the four children were selected for the national camp through a series of competitions conducted at local, district, divisional and State level. Children in the age group of 10 to 16 would take part in a series of programmes at the camp, including dance and musical presentations and plays, he said. Mr. Krishnamurthy said that three girls and a boy from four schools in Mysore city were participating in the camp. The four children belong to Pramathi Hill View Academy, Acharya Vidya Kula, Gnanagangotri and St. Mary’s School. The Children’s Assembly and Integration Camp is an annual feature of the National Bal Bhavan in which children from all parts of the country and also abroad participate. The theme of this year’s assembly is “Towards sustainable cities”. The theme has been chosen to inculcate among children the need for building sustainable cities without which a healthy nation cannot be achieved, according to information from the National Bal Bhavan.
