KOLLAM: The Kerala Pravasi Welfare Organisation (KPWO) has called for the intervention of the Union government for the safe return of 237 Indians who are allegedly kept confined by a construction company in Tripoli, Libya. At a press meet on Thursday, KPWO patron Fr. Paul Cruz said 26 persons from the group, including 13 Malayalis, had escaped. Those who returned said that the group was forced to work for 12 hours a day with just one meal and no salaries for the past four months. They were not allowed to go though their visa period had expired on July 14 last.
