TADIKONDA (GUNTUR DT): Minister for Secondary Education D.M. Vara Prasada Rao on Thursday inaugurated the first State-level Educational and Science Exhibition at the Tadikonda Residential School here. The highlight of the exhibition was the participation of students from different high schools from nine districts, Srikakulum, Vijayanagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore. The students displayed various artifacts of the latest innovations and developments in the fields of science and technology. The exhibition would conclude on November 14. Later addressing a meeting, the Minister said that students in Government residential schools were competing with those in private corporate schools and reiterated the Government’s commitment in enhancing the standard of teaching and infrastructure in the Government run schools. He said that the State Government has set up 395 Kasturiba Gandhi Girls High Schools, which offer education for girls up to Class 10. Andhra Pradesh Gurukul Vidyalaya Samithi secretary Kotamreddy Prakash said that the pass percentage of students in Kasturiba High Schools was about 86.6 per cent and efforts were on to achieve 100 per cent this year. As many as 18 students secured admission into the IIITs last year, he said.
