Notice ordered on teachers’ plea

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has ordered notice on a petition by the Tamil Nadu Teachers Association of the Visually Challenged seeking to declare as illegal a clause in a prospectus, issued by the Teachers Recruitment Board, to recruit lecturers that visually and hearing impaired persons were not eligible to apply.

The petitioner prayed the court to direct the authorities to reserve and provide one per cent of the total vacancies for the visually impaired.
