SANGAREDDY: District Collector L. Sashidhar suddenly turned a teacher and taught students social, science and English. As part of inaugurating filaria awareness programme and distribution of tablets at the Government Girls High School in Sangareddy on Wednesday, Mr. Sashidhar came to the school. When he asked about social subject in 10th class Urdu medium, Juvelia Afrin explained about traffic problems. In Telugu medium class, he asked about how plants use solar rays for their living. Jyothi, a student, explained how it takes place. Chamundi, another student, drew a chart and explained about functioning of the heart. District Medical and Health Officer Dr. M. Govardhan Reddy explained the students in more detail. Mr. Sashidhar suggested the students to concentrate more on science subject. He also asked them to qualify 10th class with more than 500 marks. Preventive stepsWhen class VII students failed to speak in English, the Collector suggested the teachers to help the students overcome their stage fear. Earlier, participating in the programme, Mr. Sashidhar suggested to take all preventive steps to arrest the spread of filaria. Mr. Govardhan Reddy said that so far 3,800 cases were reported in the district and free medicine was distributed to 27 lakh people.
