Suitcase with Rs.1.6 lakh stolen

CHENNAI: A suitcase containing Rs.1.6 lakh was reported stolen from the office of an LIC agent at Elephant Gate on Tuesday.
The police said Lokesh (50) of Muthiah Chettiar Street had lodged a complaint that when he went to open his shop in the morning, the main door lock was found broken and the suitcase kept inside missing.
Cash missing
In another case, Srinivasan (65), cashier in a movie hall at Perambur, has lodged a complaint with the Thiru Vi Ka Nagar police that Rs.1 lakh he had kept in a box attached to his moped was stolen. The complainant had gone to a bank in Thiru Vi Nagar to deposit the money. On reaching there, he realised that the handbag containing the cash was missing.
