TIRUCHI: With a view to sensitising hoteliers to the hygienic preparation and handling of food items, the Public Health Department will impart training to hotel employees in the State shortly, said S.Elango, Director of Public Health. Speaking at a function to mark the anniversary of the Tiruchi District Hotels Association and the general council meeting of the Tamil Nadu Hotels Association here on Wednesday, Mr. Elango said that the three-day training would focus on safe preparation and handling of food. Most employees attached to hotels were ignorant of personal hygiene such as keeping hands and fingers clean, washing their hands and keeping the food and drinking water free of contamination. Screening of restaurant employees for ascertaining any illness would form part of the training, he added. Assistance givenTransport Minister K. N. Nehru gave away livelihood assistances donated by the Hotels Owners Association to the economically weaker sections.
