Sonia may ask YSR’s wife to enter poll fray

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The sympathy and goodwill that former Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy enjoyed with the AICC president Sonia Gandhi may see her urging his wife Ms. Vijayalakshmi to not only contest the by-election from Pulivendula Assembly constituency but even invite her to join the State Cabinet.

A top Congress source said, going by the impression Ms Gandhi has for Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy’s family, Ms. Vijayalakshmi will be her natural choice.

“By making her an MLA, Ms Sonia Gandhi feels she will keep YSR’s wife pre-occupied. It will not be a surprise, if Ms. Vijayalakshmi finds herself being inducted into the State Cabinet. Her candidature will also solve any problem that is likely to arise over who should enter the fray,” the source remarked.

It may be recalled that Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy along with his mother had called on Ms. Gandhi last week in New Delhi.
