T.P. Singh scores century

WRECKER-IN-CHIEF: Vinay Kumar, who picked up eight wickets, celebrates after dismissing Delhi’s Yogesh Nagar.

NEW DELHI: T.P. Singh scored his first century in the Ranji Trophy after coming back from the fold of the ICL. The 31-year-old helped Railways reach 238 for four on the first day of its Super League match against Himachal Pradesh.

T.P. Singh’s knock contained 12 boundaries and four sixes.

In another match, Karnataka’s R. Vinay Kumar bowled the spell of his life to wreck Delhi on a helpful surface at the Roshanara Club ground. Vinay claimed eight wickets as Delhi was bowled out for 154.

Karnataka finished the opening day at 91 for two.

The scores:

Super League: At Delhi: Delhi 154 in 54.4 overs (Vinay Kumar eight for 32) vs. Karnataka 91 for two in 30 overs (K.B. Pawan 40 batting).

At Delhi: Railways 238 for four in 91 overs (T.P. Singh 102, Y. Goud 48 batting, Sarandeep Singh four for 79) vs. Himachal Pradesh.

At Rajkot: Uttar Pradesh 287 for five in 90 overs (S.S. Shukla 119, Parvinder Singh 120 batting) vs. Saurashtra.

At Mohali: Punjab 221 in 76.5 overs (R. Inder Singh 63, Praneet Arjun six for 47) vs. Hyderabad 12 for one in four overs.

At Mumbai: Mumbai vs. Orissa (play called off due to rain).

Plate league: At Indore: Madhya Pradesh 134 for one in 30 overs (H. Kanitkar 56 batting, Naman Ojha 61 batting) vs. Kerala.

At Agartala: Rajasthan vs. 102 in 44.3 overs (Wilkin Mota six for 26) vs. Tripura 73 for three in 38 overs.

At Margoa: Goa vs. Assam (play called off due to rain).

At Ranchi: Jharkhand vs. Vidarbha (play called off due to rain).

At Srinagar: J&K vs. Haryana (play called off due to rain).
