BANGALORE: The Speed Indian National Rally Championship (INRC) shifts to the picturesque Chikmagalur. The fifth and the concluding round of the 2009 championship will be held amongst coffee estates from November 20 to 22. And making the event all the more absorbing is that the title race after four rounds — Coimbatore, Bangalore, Kolkata and Nashik — is wide open. Team MRF has two contenders — Gaurav Gill (co-driver Musa Sherif) and Arjun Balu (BS Sujith Kumar as co-driver) — in the top two places with 31 and 27 points with Red Rooster’s Amitrajit Ghosh , with Ashwin Maik as co-driver and MRF’s Aroor Arjun Rao (co-driver Satish Rajgopal) close on the heels. The competitive section, the Super Special stage of two km, will kick off at the Amber Valley Residential School on Friday, Nov. 20 and will include two physical special stages — Birur (11.45 km) and Kuvempu University (15.50 km) to be run twice in the total distance of 549.34 km. The Coffee Day Rally of Chikmagallur is being organised by Motor Sports Club of Chikmagallur and is promoted by IMG — Pro Sports Promotion and the categories up for grabs are the overall, 2000N+, 1600cc, 1400cc, Rally Star Cup and the Gypsy Cup. — Special Correspondent
