Former Minister denies TRS charge

HYDERABAD: Former Minister and Congress MLA from Sarvepalli Adala Prabhakar Reddy refuted allegations by the Telangana Rastra Samiti that he had encroached assigned lands in Ranga Reddy district.

At a press conference here on Tuesday, Mr. Reddy said he purchased 25.20 acres land in Bachupally village in Qutubullapur mandal of Ranga Reddy long back.

But, once it came to his notice that the said lands were assigned lands, he had written to the Government making his intention to surrender the same.

He ridiculed the TRS leader’s charge that he had taken possession of assigned lands in a violation of the AP Assigned Lands (Prohibition of Transfer) Act, 1977.

He said even though the land was surrendered to the Government, the TRS leaders had levelled allegations against him.

Mr. Reddy said he had also filed a petition in the AP High Court challenging the order issued by the Deputy Collector and Tahsildar, Qutubullapur mandal, in 2005, after the surrendered land was earmarked for AP Rajiv Swagruha housing programme. He contended that when his land was given to the Government, it should be alienated to the Dalits instead of converting it for commercial purpose.
