Record increase in delegates and companies

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: How do we take Information and Communication Technology to a billion people? This rather complex question is the theme of the 12th edition of the Bangalore IT.biz, which begins here on Wednesday.

The event, which had 300 delegates and about 130 companies participating in 2008, has seen a record increase. This year, 800 delegates and no less than 500 companies have enrolled for the event.

Organisers attribute this increase to a change in approach and attitude that this event has undergone. In the wake of the global recession, organisers of the 12-year-old event found that the IT industry has turned its gaze inwards. This is the reason why a large part of the session will focus on IT investment opportunities in India, including critical sectors such as health, e-governance, energy and home-grown start-ups.
