Programme on bio-fertilizer production

Staff Reporter

KRISHNAGIRI: Farmers’ Clubs in the district should ensure construction of toilets in each and every household in the villages under their jurisdiction, said Collector V.K. Shanmugam here on Tuesday.

Mr. Shanmugam was inaugurating the 13-day training programme on vermicompost and bio-fertilizer production at Thatrahalli, near Kaveripattinam, for the Farmers’ Club members.

He welcomed the initiative of the clubs to help the members get loans from banks as well as making them repay the loans promptly within the stipulated time, thereby acting as a bridge between the bankers and the members.

G. Muthappan, Assistant General Manager, Indian Bank, said such clubs would be formed through the bank’s 56 branches in Krishangiri district.

He lauded the Farmers’ Clubs for their role in facilitating hassle-free loan disbursement.
