SBI launches ‘SMS Unhappy’ service

Staff Reporter

BERHAMPUR: The State Bank of India (SBI) has launched an SMS-based customer redressal service in Orissa.

It is part of SBI’s green banking initiative to protect nature and our planet, said the Chief General Manager of thebank in Orissa Shiv Kumar during his visit to Ganjam district on

This service was named ‘SMS Unhappy’. It was launched three weeks back in Orissa inviting complaints.

According to Mr Kumar, this web-based service has received over 800 messages from customers during this period.

He claimed that 85 per cent of the complaints had been resolved.

“The number of SMSs is getting down as old customers’ long standing complaints are getting resolved.

The process of lodging a complaint regarding customer service of the SBI in Orissa through this process is quite easy.

Any dissatisfied customer has to send an SMS ‘Unhappy’ to 9437141414. The complaint would get registered in the bank’s central server in Bhubaneswar.

The bank officials would then call up the sender of the SMS to take a detailed note of the complaint.

They would then try to resolve the problem of the complainant through the 622 branches of the bank in Orissa through web based technology.

This SMS and web based system involved no paper work in the process and there is no movement of any physical materials like documents. Mr Kumar called upon the customers to make use of this fast and techno savvy complaint redressal system.
