Convincing win for SCR

HYDERABAD: South Central Railway scored a 43-15 win over East Coast Railway in the inaugural match of the 59th All India railway kabaddi championship for men and women at RRC Grounds here on Monday. Cheralathan led from the front for the winner with good support from Satish Kumar.

In women’s section also, SCR was off to a winning start with an easy 50-15 win over East Central Railway with Mamatha and Teju playing well.

AV College wins

AV College scored a 2-0 win over Amjad Ali Khan College in the football championship of the Osmania University inter-college sports tournaments on Monday.

SBH takes honours

State Bank of Hyderabad recorded a 66-run win over Combined Corporates XI in the final of the inaugural SBH Friendship Cup corporate cricket tournament here.

Special prizes were given to Venkat (best batsman) and Kushal Jilla (best bowler), both from SBH.

The scores: SBH 147 for seven (Venkat 42) bt Corporates XI 81.

Gagan in AP squad

The Rifle Association of Andhra Pradesh will field three current National champions including Gagan Narang, Asher Noria and the father-son duo of Darius S. Chenai and Kynan Chenai in its squad that will take part in the 53rd Nationals to be held from Nov. 10 to 19.

The team: Gagan Narang, Asher Noria, Darius S. Chenai, Kynan Chenai, Amit Sanghi, Gusti Noria, Subir Singh, Rashme Rathore, M. V. Prasad, K. Football selections

The selection trials to pick the State team, for the forthcoming 46th Junior National football championship, will be held from November 16 to 20 at Gymkhana Grounds (Secunderabad) and for the district players from November 21 to 24 at the same venue, according to a press release of Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh.

Players who are born on or after January 1, 1992, are eligible to take part and should report to A. Aleem Khan, District Sports Development Officer, at the venue with the relevant age proof certificates.

School Games trials

Hyderabad District School Games Federation will organise Inter-school basketball volleyball and basketball tournaments-cum-selections at Victory Playground (Chaderghat) and Government College of Physical Education (Domalguda) from November 10 to 12.

Cricket trials

Trials to select the Vizianagaram district under-25 cricket team will be held at the Vizzy stadium, Vizianagaram from 8 a.m. on Nov. 15. Players born on or after Sept. 1, 1984 are eligible. Interested have to report to the general secretary of Vizianagaram DCA at the venue along with age proof certificate.
