Re-entry: Janata Dal (S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda welcoming former Minister P.G.R. Sindhia into the party at a function in Bangalore on Monday. BANGALORE: Former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda on Monday expressed confidence that the Janata Dal (S) would come to power in the State by espousing the cause of the poor and farmers. Admitting the former Minister P.G.R. Sindhia into the party at a function here, the JD (S) supremo wished that there would be no misunderstandings between him and the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, MP, or others in the future. A large number of supporters of Mr. Sindhia from various districts also joined the party. Mr. Gowda said that BJP leaders and workers collected crores of rupees promising that they would build a temple for Lord Rama at Ayodhya, but failed to keep their word. Where did the money go? The BJP was paying the price for its sins, he said. Mr. Gowda said he and his family members were being targeted for a long time. Mr. Kumaraswamy and Leader of the JD(S) Legislature Party and former Minister H.D. Revanna had undergone much trauma, he said. Hailing Mr. Kumaraswamy’s decision to waive farm loans to the tune of Rs. 2,500 crore during his tenure as Chief Minister, Mr. Deve Gowda said that even he could waive only Rs. 950 crore. Mr. Kumaraswamy hailed Mr. Sindhia as his elder brother and said he was ready to work with him, forgetting all differences. Giving an ultimatum to the BJP to set its house in order and provide relief to the flood-hit people and improve governance, Mr. Kumaraswamy warned that the JD (S) would launch an agitation under the leadership of Mr. Sindhia if this did not happen. Mr. Revanna spoke. Mr. Sindhia said that he and Mr. Kumaraswamy would work together and make the party stronger.
