Three days ahead of marriage, bride ‘ends life’

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A 24-year-old-woman ended her life on Monday evening even as her family members were busy making arrangements for her marriage to be held three days later at Kacheguda.

Marriage of Ch. Sarita was fixed with a person hailing from Langer Houz.

Her two brothers and mother were discussing about the preparations for the marriage when she went to the room on the first floor around 6 p.m. As she did not come downstairs, the family members went up to call her out but found the door bolted from inside. They broke the door as she did not respond to the calls and found her body hanging to the ceiling fan hook with a ‘chunni’ tied around

“Her family members maintain that Sarita did not object to the marriage proposal at any stage and the motive behind her death baffled them,” Kacheguda Inspector B. Koteswara Rao said. No suicide note was found.

Stating that reasons behind her death are yet to be ascertained, the Inspector felt unwillingness to the marriage could have driven her to resort to the extreme step. Sarita’s father expired when she was a child.

Sarita used to take private classes for primary school students.
