AIFB criticises Home Secretary’s statement

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) has termed Union Home Secretary G.K. Pillai’s statement that China is supplying weapons to Maoist groups “irresponsible.” Addressing a press conference here on Monday, AIFB general secretary G. Devarajan said if the Union government had come across any evidence to that effect, it should have used the diplomatic channels to take up the issue with the Chinese government.

Raising such serious issues through the media was immature diplomacy and would only help to sow seeds of doubt in Indo-China relations.

He said that resolution of serious bilateral issues in the India-China relations, including the border dispute, called for discussions between the political leaderships in both countries instead of the official-level discussions. He said that a State meeting of the party would be held in Thiruvananthapuram from November 21 to 23. Seminars, rallies, public meetings and delegates’ meet would be held in this connection. The Ernakulam district meeting of the party would be held for two days from November 17 at Shikshak Sadan.
