Police suspect carpenters in church vandalism

BANGALORE: The police are questioning several suspects in the weekend vandalism and burglary of St. Anthony’s Church in Kavalbyrasandra. The Devarajeevanahalli police said the way the front door of the shrine was opened expertly, they suspect the culprits had knowledge of carpentry. Senior police officers visited the church on Monday and had detailed discussions with the church authorities.

Child molested

A 31-year-old man was arrested here on Monday for allegedly molesting a two-year-old girl. The accused is a contractor who lives on the Ninth Main in HRBR Layout and the toddler is his watchman’s daughter.

The Banaswadi police named the suspect as Sandeep.

Couple mugged

A gang of four mugged a couple and relieved them of their gold chains in P.C. Palya in K.R. Puram police station limits on Sunday night.

The police said Nutan Prasad and his wife were on their way to a cinema in K.R. Puram on a two-wheeler when they were accosted.

Burglaries

Two gold lamps and some jewellery were taken away from Maheshwara temple in Begur Road on Sunday night. The Madiwala police said the burglars broke open the main door.

Gold jewellery worth about Rs. 50,000 was taken away from the house of Alwin D’Souza in HSR Layout 22nd A Cross on Sunday. The house of Seema, a software engineer, was burgled in Swatantra Yodhara Colony in Laggere n Rajagopalnagar police station limits on Sunday and jewellery worth Rs. 50,000 stolen.
