THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Nisha Krishnan of Jeevan TV has won this year’s Dr. Ambedkar Media Award in the visual media category for a feature describing the story of a girl from a tribal colony who won admission to the MBBS course braving poor living circumstances. In the print media category, the award, instituted by the State government’s Department for the Welfare of Backward Communities, is for Jisha Elizabeth of Madhyamam daily for a serialised article about the a tribal colony working its way to join the mainstream of society with government help. — Special Correspondent
