BJP may rope in national-level leaders

Party works out multi-pronged strategy to reach out to voters ahead of GHMC polls

Erratic water and power supply to be highlighted: Chintala Ramachandra Reddy

Focus on the need for more budget and teeth to the local body in ensuring amenities

HYDERABAD: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will win enough divisions in the coming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) election to capture the Mayor seat, says the party GHMC unit president Chintala Ramachandra Reddy.

To ensure this, a multi-pronged strategy to reach maximum number of voters and also rope in national level leaders for campaign, has been worked out.

Security concerns

“The issues facing the GHMC jurisdiction are many, from awful civic amenities to rising concerns about security resulting from the actions of disruptive forces. One should also not forget the rise in the prices of essential commodities,” observes Mr. Reddy.

Lack of proper transportation network, erratic supply of water and electricity and roads that are in shambles are to be highlighted. Issues such as expansion of Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) and the proposed elevated metro rail too will be taken to the voters.

Also, the need for more budget and teeth to the local body in ensuring better amenities for the citizens is to be brought into sharp focus during the campaign.

Campaign launched

“Our candidates supported by city and State leaders have launched the campaign already. We are looking at inviting national leaders also to join.”

Main rivals

The BJP GHMC unit chief does not mince words in his tirade against MIM and Congress, whom he describes the main rivals in this elections. “This contest is between BJP on one hand and the MIM and Congress on the other. We have been preparing for this poll for quite some time,” Mr. Reddy adds.
