Kusalava group chief feted

HIGH MOMENT: Industrialist Chukkapalli Kusalava being felicitated with Excellence Award-2009 by the Andhra Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vijayawada on Monday.

VIJAYAWADA: Chukkapalli Kusalava, chairman of the Kusalava group of companies, was felicitated at an impressive function organised by the Andhra Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Monday.

Mr. Kusalava was conferred the chamber’s “Excellence Award for 2009” in recognition of his outstanding services to the development of industry, especially automobile industry, in the city and surrounding areas. The speakers praised him for his tireless efforts in the past four decades in building the local industry.

Speaking as chief guest, Wheels India Ltd. chairman and managing director Sri Ram Santanam said Mr. Kusalava’s contribution to the development of entrepreneurship was memorable. He spoke of the contemporary challenges to the economic growth in the face of recession and economic slowdown hitting world countries.

Dwelling at length on the crisis situation, Mr. Santanam said that the countries should have to rework their economic priorities rather than focussing on improving exports. He referred to the Japanese government’s recent emphasis on improving quality of life and giving a bigger say to local consumers.
