START: Noted dancer Vyjayanthimala Bali (fourth from left) at the inauguration of ‘Nrityotsava’ at the Town Hall in Mangalore on Monday. MANGALORE: Actor and dancer Vyjayanthimala Bali was presented the Natyakala Tapaswini Award, instituted by Sri Ramakrishna Alva Memorial Trust, here on Monday. The award presentation was part of “Nrityotsava–2009” organised by Sridevi Nrithya Kendra at the Town Hall. Ananthakrishna, chairman, Karnataka Bank, presented the award. It comprises Rs. 11,111 in cash and a citation. Students of the kendra presented a dance ballet, “Chitrambala Kuravanji”. It was composed by late K.N. Dandayudhapani Pillai and choreographed by Jayalakshmi Alva, disciple of late Pillai. President of the Karnataka Yakshagana Academy Kumble Sundar Rao, president of the Dakshina Kannada Sahitya Parishat Pradeep Kumar Kalkura and archak of Kateel Durgaparameshwari temple Lakshminarayana Asranna were among those present at the function.
