Staff Correspondent

Madikeri: Advocates in Madikeri and Virajpet in Kodagu district abstained from courts on Monday to protest against the hearing of cases in the High Court by Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court P.D. Dinakaran.

The Madikeri Bar Association, at a meeting held here in the morning, unanimously decided to abstain from the court proceedings.

The meeting was presided over by the president of the Bar Association B.J. Chinnappa.

Lawyers in Virajpet also refrained from the court proceedings on Monday expressing solidarity with the advocate fraternity.

The advocates were only against Mr. Dinakaran discharging judicial functions. They were not against Mr. Dinakaran discharging the administrative functions, a lawyer, who did not want to be named, clarified.
