CHENNAI: The death of a 36-year-old man under suspicious circumstances in Avadi last month turned out to be a cold-blooded murder. According to police sources, G. Sudhakar, a real estate agent, was found dead at his house in TNHB Colony on October 26. His wife S. Sheela (32) lodged a complaint with the police that she and her children were asleep in a separate room. Around 3.30 a.m., she woke up and found the door of her room bolted from outside. When Sudhakar did not respond to calls, she alerted G. Rajesh (23), a close relative of her husband, residing opposite their house. He came along with his sister and opened the door. Sudhakar was found lying dead with some marks on his neck, she claimed in her complaint. A case of suspicious death was registered by the Avadi police. Though it was claimed that Sudhakar committed suicide by hanging, circumstantial evidence at the scene did not support the claim. When the mobile phone calls of Sheela were perused, it was found that she had made calls frequently to Rajesh police said. Since Rajesh was Sudhakar’s nephew, police did not suspect his involvement initially. However, based on further investigation, the team apprehended Rajesh near Poonamallee on Sunday. He confessed to having murdered Sudhakar at the instigation of Sheela with whom he had an illicit relationship. Sheela was arrested from her house on Monday morning. Rajesh was driving a taxi owned by Sudhakar and that is how he frequented the house and got close to Sheela. On the day of the murder, Rajesh came home after midnight with a rope. While the woman held Sudhakar’s feet tightly, he strangulated him till death.
