Rs. 2,180 cr. sought for roadworks
Special Correspondent
Bangalore: The State Government has submitted a Rs. 2,180-crore proposal to the Centre to repair damaged roads and bridges in flood-affected districts of north Karnataka.
Addressing presspersons here on Monday, Minister for Public Works C.M. Udasi said Rs. 1,319 crore would be required to repair rural and district roads and Rs. 203 crore for national highways, and Rs. 658 crore to take up work on bridges. The Centre had not shown any positive response to the proposal so far, he added.
Mr. Udasi said the funds now available with deputy commissioners had been used for repairs to bridges and roads.
All damaged roads would be repaired in 18 months. The work would be taken up in consultation with district in-charge Ministers, Mr. Udasi said.
