KOLLAM: Rahul Dev (109) and S. Srikanth (100) struck centuries as Oxford CC crushed Kent CC by 328 runs in the Kollam District ‘A’ division cricket league at the DB College ground on Sunday. Oxford CC on the strength of Rahul and Srikanth’s knocks piled up an imposing 365 for five in its allotted 45 overs. Medium-pacer Anush Khan wrecked Kent CC and had flattering figures of eight for 11. Kent CC was bundled out for a paltry 37 off 19 overs. At the Ashrama maidan, IPO ‘A’ defeated Yorkshire CC by eight wickets. Sharath (four for five) and Jiji Sathyan (three for 23) shone with the ball as Yorkshire CC was dismissed for 90 runs. In reply, IPO reached the target in just 16 overs for the loss of two wickets. The scores: Oxford CC 365 for five in 45 overs (Rahul Dev 109, S. In other matches, Sacred Heart CMI Club beat Fire Rajagiri 63-44 while Don Bosco Youth Centre (Vaduthala) prevailed over Youngsters-Kochi 56-37. Basketball tournamentThe inaugural M.C. Varghese memorial all-Kerala inter-school prizemoney basketball tournament will begin at the M.C. Varghese basketball stadium at the Mangalam Campus in Ettumanoor on Tuesday. St. Thomas, Kozhencherry will meet St. Alotius HSS, Athirampuzha in the opening match of the tournament will be played on knock-out basis. St. Ephreme’s HSS (Mannanam), St. Joseph’s HSS (Thiruvananthapuram), Sacred Heart HSS (Thevara), SC Seminary HSS (Tiruvalla) are some of the prominent teams taking part in the three-day tournament. The winner will be given a cash award of Rs. 10,000. International Subash Shenoy will inaugurate the tournament.
